Attackers are hoping to cache in on the fact that vulnerable versions of Adobe Reader are still in use. The PDFs are being sent with pleas for help. Help! I can’t upload this file. Help! I can’t read this PDF. Attackers are hoping that recipients can be tricked into opening the unsolicited attachments and getting malware loaded on to their computers. The samples that we received were contrived social engineering attempts. If you receive an unsolicited PDF from someone that you know, contact the sender to verify it’s authenticity. Do not just hit reply!
